Gate Folds are the next best thing since paper airplanes
April 24, 2012
Remember making paper airplanes…or even origami cranes? Both made an ordinary piece of paper something of interest.
Same is true for gate folding. When used with direct mail marketing, it can boost response 3% to 5%. That’s why we just replaced our gate folder with a state-of-the-art gate folder that can handle variable sizes without compromising speed.
A gate fold is, basically, a slow reveal. It works like this:

Clients have used the gate fold to show doors of a house (or French doors) opening to reveal the things you want to sell: carpet, furniture, home theaters, family rooms, window coverings, tile, kitchens, whatever. The gate fold involves the prospect in both the fun of a “reveal” and also helps them more easily envision the product in their home.
Other examples:
• Event or contest invitations, where the front is a treasure chest that opens.
• Business handouts, where the gate fold doubles as a pocket folder.
• New product launches, for revealing news about your latest product addition
• Menus, or take-home menus. The front of the brochure can be an image of the front of your restaurant, or a pie, that when opened reveals your dessert menu.
