What do hurricanes have to do with saving the environment?
August 13, 2012
The two don’t seem to go together. Aren’t hurricanes destructive to the environment?
Yes, but we turned that destructive energy into a positive. After our printing plant was pounded by hurricanes a couple years ago, we moved into a newly-built fortress of a printing plant that, at the same time, is great for the environment. Our Cinderella story is a feature on p. 32 of the August issue of Printing Impressions Magazine. Click here to read.
After realizing how vulnerable our plant was to hurricanes, we built a new plant in Largo, Florida that is Category 3 safe, with a Category 5 bunker inside to house and safeguard data. At the same time, we committed to an eco-friendly operation. We’ve cut greenhouse gasses and shrunk our energy footprint, with recycling that saves 6,700 very big trees a year.
Now our innovation has become a model for others, featured in a national magazine. Enjoy! And, by the way, if you want your printing to be weather-disaster safe and respectful of the environment, consider PrimeNet.
