What is Variable Data Printing?
Variable data printing, VDP, known also as variable information printing, VIP – or variable imaging, VI – is a form of digital printing, including on-demand printing, where elements such as text and/or images may be changed from one printed piece to the next, without the need for stopping or slowing down the printing process to use the information from a database or .csv file.
For example, personalized mailers with the same layout can be printed with a different name and address on each individual letter. Variable data printing is typically used for direct mail marketing, invoice and statement printing, and applying customization on self mailers, brochures or postcard campaigns.
